Ghost – a blank drafter used to fill a draft pool to the necessary number of 10 drafters. Ghost teams are removed from the official scoring results.

Participation

Each drafter must be present at the draft and actively participate in the drafting of their team.

Teammates (multiple people drafting for a single team) are allowed but strongly discouraged.

Draft pool assignment and draft documents will be provided to a drafter once the drafter has registered at the head table at the draft venue.

However, the draft will be held in a drinking establishment, and the content of the presentations, awards, discussions, etc. will be of an adult nature. Content and conversation will not be censored based on draft participants or attendees.

Draft Procedures

Draft Pools are divided by color (e.g., Blue, Red, Green, Orange, etc.).

Each draft pool will consist of 10 drafters and be led by a Draft Master, who will participate as one of the 10 drafters.

If participant numbers fall as such that 10 registered drafters are not assigned to a draft pool, a Ghost drafter(s) will fill any remaining spots until the pool has 10 assigned drafters.

Each drafter in a draft pool will draw a letter (A through J) from a hat. That letter corresponds to each drafter’s respective draft position. For example, draft letter A in a draft pool may have the 8th draft pick at 125, the 4th draft pick at 133, the 1st draft pick at 141, etc.

Each drafter will have the 1st draft pick at one weight, the 2nd draft pick another weight, etc., down to finally having the 10th draft pick at a weight.

The Ghost(s) will always draft the highest seeded remaining wrestler at each respective weight.

Drafting begins with the 1st draft pick at 125 and continues until the 10th draft pick at 125, then moves to 133 and so on until the 10th and final draft pick is made at 285.

A wrestler can only be picked one time in a draft pool. Once a wrestler has been picked in a draft pool, no other drafter in that draft pool may pick that wrestler.

The results of the draft and each drafter’s team will be recorded by the Draft Master on the draft form. The draft form submitted to the Official Scorer by the Draft Master is the official list of each drafter’s team.

There is a desire to avoid the same team being drafted in multiple pools. As such, each draft pool has different draft positions for each letter. For example, in the Blue draft pool the draft letter A would have the 8th draft pick at 125, the 4th draft pick at 133, the 1st draft pick at 141, etc. In the Orange draft pool the letter A would have the 1st draft pick at 125, the 10th draft pick at 133, the 6st draft pick at 141, etc.

Scoring

Drafted teams score points as individual wrestlers on the drafted team score advancement, placement, and bonus points, using the same scoring system as applied in the wrestling tournament.

Team points deducted due to actions of the wrestlers results in team points deducted from drafted teams. This includes actions on the mat and disqualification, missing weigh in, etc.

The highest scoring draft team will be deemed the St. Patrick’s National Champion. The top 8 scoring teams will be deemed St. Patrick’s All-Americans.

In the event of a tie for any podium position, the criteria begins with comparing the scoring of the tied teams’ #1 draft picks (with the higher score winning), then then #2 draft picks, and so on until the #10 draft picks have been compared. In the event the teams are still tied after comparing the #10draft picks, the ultimate tiebreaker will involve a feat of strength determined by the Executive Committee.

The team with the lowest score will be deemed the DONKEY. In the event of a tie for the DONKEY, the same criteria used for podium finishes will be used, with the higher score raising the tied drafter out of the DONKEY position. If the teams are still tied after comparing the #10draft picks, the ultimate tiebreaker will involve a feat of strength determined by the Executive Committee.

Protests

It is the responsibility of each drafter to ensure their team has been correctly recorded by the Draft Master. Protests regarding the accuracy of draft picks recorded on the draft form will not be heard after the draft form has been submitted to the Official Scorer.

If a drafter chooses to file a formal scoring protest, the protest must be made to the Executive Committee. Formal scoring protests require a $20 deposit (to be paid to the Official Scorer), refundable only if the protest is upheld.

Ruling

All decisions of the Executive Committee are final. There is no other appellate body or party.

Executive Committee decisions are made by a simple majority. A quorum is required for a vote.

All Executive Committee hearings are private and confidential unless outside participation is requested by the Executive Committee.

Any question, challenge, protest, ruling, etc. not addressed above will be received and heard at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
